A burglar from Sarasota, Florida, reportedly fell asleep after breaking into a house at the weekend.
The homeowner woke up at around 7.20am on Saturday morning to find Timothy Bontrager, 29, asleep on her living room sofa, according to US media reports.
When she asked him what he was doing in her house, Bontrager reportedly apologised, then left when the homeowner called the police, taking her wallet, credit cards, driver’s licence and personal cheques.
Bontrager, who listed fishing as his occupation on the arrest report, was quickly picked up by police and charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling.
He will appear in court on June 26.
